Summer Activities on a Budget

With the economy in the shape it has been over the past couple of years it is important with summer upon us that families are creative in the way in which we tackle summer break activities.  Being a family of six it definitely can be costly to do certain activities as a family.  Here are some ideas that we have explored to reduce the costs of our activities during the summer.

1. Check out your local movie theatres for summer promotions, many offer reduced or free summer programs.
2. Explore the nature parks and playgrounds in your area, mixing it up will keep it exciting for the kids.
3. Buy a small pool, or sprinkler to keep the kids entertained at home on the hot days.
4. Use coupons to get the best deals for activities and eating out.

I know that this may take some work on your end as the parent but keeping the kids busy in the summer will benefit you in the long run.
